    Community Submission Guidelines

    ‘BeWith’ Calendar – Community Submissions Code of Conduct

    The City of Portland, Texas ('City') offers this community calendar as a tool for residents to organize and share volunteer and social events that foster connections and strengthen our sense of community. By providing this platform, the City aims to encourage meaningful interactions, support personal growth, and enhance the well-being of our residents.

    Location Requirement
    All events must take place within the city limits of Portland, Texas.

    Age Requirement
    Event organizers must be at least 18 years old. Events may only be targeted toward individuals aged 18 or older.

    Qualifying Events
    To promote community engagement and connection, submitted events should align with the following goals:

    • Teaching or learning something new
    • Developing a skill
    • Meeting new people
    • Building community
    • Volunteering for a cause
    • Supporting each other
    • Increasing awareness about a specific topic
    • Encouraging a passion
    • Pursuing a goal or hobby
    • Getting fit and active
    • Exploring new places
    • Furthering one’s career
    • Creating meaningful human connections

    Prohibited Events
    For safety, legal, and ethical reasons, certain types of events are prohibited. The City reserves the right to remove or decline any submissions that fall under these categories:

    • Violent, Dangerous, or Criminal Behavior: Events that promote or result in illegal or violent activities, including but not limited to:
      • Pyramid schemes
      • Physical harm against individuals
      • Animal abuse
      • Acts of vandalism
      • Sexual exploitation, pornography, nudity, or sexual content
    • Threats to Public or Personal Safety:

    Events that:

      • Advocate for or incite violence against groups, individuals, or specific locations
      • Promote weapons or explosive-making
      • Encourage violence in response to other events
      • Glorify or promote self-harm (e.g., suicide, eating disorders, or substance abuse)
      • Support or recruit for terrorist organizations

    This list is not exhaustive, and the City reserves the right to remove or decline any event deemed unsafe, illegal, or otherwise threatening to the Portland community.

    Acceptance of Terms
    By submitting an event, organizers agree to these terms and understand that the City has sole discretion to approve or deny submissions based on these guidelines.
